The xdm init script has been added to the default runlevel and is set to use GDM as the display manager. At boot time GDM starts on vd7, however if I log into Gnome then log out GDM restarts on vt8 and stays there. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot computer 2. Log in to Gnome through GDM (running on vt7) 3. Log out of Gnome (properly) Actual Results: GDM running on vt8 Expected Results: GDM running on vt7 I have also been experiencing occasional keyboard lockups recently. I wonder if this is related since /etc/conf.d/xdm contains `CHECKVT=7` and mentions something about this being set to prevent keyboard lockups.
erm, so what's your problem ? gdm moving from vt to another ?
emerge --info, emerge -pv gdm would be nice to have...
(In reply to comment #1) > erm, so what's your problem ? gdm moving from vt to another ? > exactly. posting emerge logs now.

Are you sure this is really a dupe of bug 261339 ? I am having the same problem with gdm-2.20.9 (2.20, not >2.22): http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=260444 but, in my case, I suffer it just after updating to xorg-server-1.5 from current stable I also get this behavior after loging in and logging out but, after this, "startx" also fails in the same way
This is not a dupe(In reply to comment #7) > Are you sure this is really a dupe of bug 261339 ? > > I am having the same problem with gdm-2.20.9 (2.20, not >2.22): > http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=260444 > Alrighty, dupe of bug 260444 then :-)
