Description Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-05 10:03:37 UTC
Okay so the thing is like this: the package seems to be unmaintained and it builds with TEXTRELs under x86 (and probably don't even compile under amd64).

As to why, the problem is that the thing is using static archives (noinst_LIBRARIES) rather than libtool libraries (noinst_LTLIBRARIES) and libtool actually warn about it.

The "fPIC" patch that is supposed to fix the issue is just messing with and in the wrong way. maintainer mode rebuild is triggered and the whole patch is gone by the time the package is built.

Given this, and the fact that nobody seems to have reported this first, I guess it would be easier to just kill it.
