I'm not sure whether it should be better to file this bug report for the xulrunner folks.

I'm tired of compiling xulrunner on old machines and I installed net-libs/xulrunner-bin-1.8.1.19 hoping that I don't need to compile xulrunner again. But devhelp (and some other ebuild out there) does not check if you've installed the binary version instead. What could be the best way of fixing it?

there is no good way to build things against xulrunner-bin or firefox-bin so this is something we don't support.

ok, I understand this. Then why is there a -bin Version of xulrunner if it doesn't really work?

For acroread, it would appear, which is also binary-only.
