Description Keith Edmunds 2002-05-08 07:22:33 UTC
The man page for emerge says:

"emerge update" updates the system packages (those listed
in /etc/make.profile/packages) to their current versions .
It is always a good idea to perform an "emerge --pretend
update" first just so that you know what emerge will be
doing.

Doesn't work for me:

taplock root # emerge --pretend update

These are the packages that I would merge, in order.

Calculating dependencies !!! Couldn't find match for update; aborting.
taplock root # emerge update

taplock root #

Uhm. That's not a bug, that's the new Portage syntax. Please RTFM before you
post features as bugs ;)

Uhm again. I re-read your description and realized this wasn't as stupid as I
first thought. It's still a duplicate of bug #1591
