This page should mention the need to edit /etc/resolv.conf with nameserver info for manually configuring IP addresses. Without nameservers, users cannot connect to the internet. I was able to figure this out without too much trouble, but Gentoo newbies might get very frustrated without this important piece of information. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Manually set up IP address configuration as per http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=8#doc_chap2. Actual Results: A new Gentoo user might be frustrated in his or her effort to manually configure static IP addresses. Expected Results: This section of the manual should indicate the need to edit /etc/resolv.conf with appropriate nameserver information.
We already talk about this in chapter 3.c: "Manual Network Configuration."
