It would be useful to add an ebuild to automatically categorize all installed games into submenus, as seen in Fedora's games-menus package for Gnome and KDE (https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/packages/name/games-menus). The possibility for those submenus is already there, as the .desktop-files contain category-tags. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install new game 2. Go to gnome-menu > games 3. Look for the newly installed game in the huge mess of application launchers
I think it might be interesting for GNOME team too as a low priority thing to look at. CCing us
Actually, Some code already exists to do that. In /etc/xdg/menus/kde-4.4-applications.menu. Although it doesn't catch all games, it does most. KDE already sorts games into submenus... It's about the only thing I like about kde these days. I just cut and pasted the relevant games menu/submenus from kde-4.4-applications.menu to xfce-applications.menu gnome-applications.menu lxde-applications.menu I'd post the patch, but I'm not sure who would apply it and there are differing indentations used in each file. BTW, since the underlying files are xdg configs, I'm not sure gnome team is the right group to implement this across all DEs.
