Description Dror Levin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-30 20:45:31 UTC
I'm using firefox-3.1_beta2 from the mozilla overlay, and recently I'm getting random segmentation faults from firefox (the window simply disappears). I can't put my finger exactly what causes this, it sometimes happens when doing nothing at all (all tabs are closed and I'm not doing anything). I've tried disabling all add-ons, running in safe-mode, removing the flash plugin and removing ~/.mozilla/ altogether, but to no avail.
I've recompiled xulrunner, firefox and glibc with -ggdb and I'll attach the most meaningful backtrace I could get. If recompiling any other package with debug symbols might help I'll gladly do it.

Some additions:
I've also tried disabling JIT (the new experimental javascript enigne) in firefox and it didn't help.
Secondly, this started happening out of the blue, firefox-3.1_beta2 worked great for me for some time (and beta1 before it), so I don't think that's to blame. My clues are linux-headers-2.6.28 and glibc-2.9_p20081201-r1 (BTW, I tried downgrading to linux-headers 2.6.27 and recompiling glibc but it didn't help either).

Any say on this, mozilla people?

You're right! I'm really sorry, I searched bugzilla over and over and couldn't find anything.
