either that or static links, but since I can't find where it would static link..

There's a copy of zlib in the source package, but it's not used when zlib is present on the system (which should always be the case, as requested by the ebuild).

# ldd /usr/qt/3-embedded/lib/libqte-mt.so.3.3.8
        linux-vdso.so.1 =>  (0x00007fff10dfd000)
        libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0x00007f240816c000)

qt-embedded is no longer in portage. Closing.
