Since the upgrade gksu doesnt work anymore and aborts with error message "Unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file.". I waited with an error report since I was unsure if it was caused by glibc-2.9. But in the forums some has problems using X over ssh which fails due to xauth as well. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-717712.html I conclude that glibc-2.9 breaks something which is used by xauth. Reproducible: Always
I downgraded to glibc-2.8 and gksu is working again.
Created attachment 175677 [details] xauth not working correctly for X11 forwarding with openssh (see original post) ssh X11 forwarding was not working (see posts in http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=5319044#53190); using Devport's suggestion, downgraded from sys-libs/glibc-2.9_p20081201 to sys-libs/glibc-2.8_p20080602-r1 (followed mods to ebuild per desultory in http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-696732.html). After emerging glibc-2.8, ssh -X remotehost (or ssh -Y remotehost) now forwards X11 correctly.
Same problem here, thanks for the report!
has anyone tested glibc-2.9-r1 ? also, you need to post `emerge --info` when filing bugs just like the bug reporting page tells you to
Still present in glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2. If I try to forward from this machine it says "Could not run /usr/bin/xauth -q -" and if I try to forward X to it, it gives me "Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding." emerge --info: Portage 2.2_rc23 (default/linux/amd64/2008.0, gcc-4.1.2, glibc-2.9_p20081201-r0, 2.6.27-gentoo-r7 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: Linux-2.6.27-gentoo-r7-x86_64-Intel-R-_Core-TM-2_CPU_4300_@_1.80GHz-with-glibc2.2.5 Timestamp of tree: Sun, 08 Mar 2009 21:30:16 +0000 distcc 3.0 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu [disabled] ccache version 2.4 [enabled] app-shells/bash: 3.2_p39 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7-r1, 2.1.6-r1 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r13, 2.5.2-r7 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r8 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 dev-util/cmake: 2.6.2-r1 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.11.1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.3.4 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.63 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.26 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.27-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=nocona -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/kde/live/env /usr/kde/live/share/config /usr/kde/live/shutdown /usr/share/config /var/lib/hsqldb" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/ca-certificates.conf /etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/sandbox.d /etc/terminfo /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=nocona -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="ccache distlocks fixpackages parallel-fetch preserve-libs protect-owned sandbox sfperms splitdebug strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="en_US.utf8" LC_ALL="en_US.utf8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" LINGUAS="en ja" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_CONFIGROOT="/" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage/local/layman/pro-audio /usr/portage/local/layman/Spring /usr/portage/local/layman/jbrout /usr/portage/local/layman/qting-edge /usr/portage/local/layman/gnustep /usr/portage/local/layman/voyageur /usr/portage/local/layman/gentoojp /usr/portage/local/layman/x11 /usr/portage/local/layman/kde-testing /usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aac acl acpi aim alsa amd64 anthy bash-completion berkdb branding bzip2 cairo ccache cddb cdinstall cdparanoia cdr cjk cli console cpudetection cracklib crypt css cups d dbus dio divx divx4linux dmi dri dvd dvdnav dvdr dvdread enca encode erandom exif fat ffmpeg firefox fortran freewnn ftp fuse gdbm gif glitz gmedia gphoto2 gpm gstreamer hal hddtemp hfs high-ints highlight history hpn iconv ieee1394 imagemagick imlib immqt inherit-graph inkjar ipod ipv6 isdnlog jabber jack java javascript jingle joystick jpeg jpeg2k kde kdeenablefinal kdeprefix kdrive ladspa lame lm_sensors logrotate matroska maya-shaderlibrary midi mikmod mime mmap mmx mmx2 mmxext mng mp3 mpeg msql mtp mudflap multilib musepack musicbrainz ncurses nls nocd nptl nptlonly nsplugin nxclient offensive ogg openal opengl openmp oscar pam pcre pdf perl pertty png posix postgres pppd python qt qt3support qt4 readline samba sasl sdl semantic-desktop server session sharedmem simplexml smp sndfile soap sockets spell spl sqlite sqlite3 sse sse2 ssl ssse3 subversion svg sysfs tcpd theora threads tiff timidity truetype unicode usb vcd verbose videos vorbis wifi wmf wmp wxwindows x264 xcomposite xine xinerama xml xorg xpm xprint xv xvid yahoo zlib" ALSA_CARDS="intel8x0m" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic authn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" LINGUAS="en ja" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="radeon radeonhd" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, FFLAGS, INSTALL_MASK, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS
Disregard that: I need to pay better attention to my fat fingers when unkeywording. Happily, not present for me in glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2.
We have one report on here of it working, can anyone else please verify that is the case?
Please get back to us if you can still reproduce the bug. Thanks
