Your /usr/bin/md5 is broken.
It is doesn't take the -qs option.
Comment 3 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-12 21:35:34 UTC
I wouldn't call it broken... /usr/bin/md5 on *BSD has the same function of md5sum on coreutils, the one I got in the tinderbox comes from dev-util/ctmkit ...
Comment 4 Robin Johnson archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2009-04-12 21:57:06 UTC
The /usr/bin/md5 expected is the stock freebsd one, which takes options -qs to get a prefix of 'md5' on the start of the output.

If you want to fix this in a way that doesn't break *bsd or Linux support, go right ahead.
Comment 5 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-12 22:14:59 UTC
Sincerely, I don't care; this happened in the tinderbox because the two packages were never installed together previously; if treecleaners want to get rid of it, it might be just the solution.
Comment 6 Robin Johnson archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2009-04-13 02:25:17 UTC
+1 for removal of ctmkit from me. It's really old and crusty.
Comment 7 Jeremy Olexa (darkside) (RETIRED) archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2009-04-14 00:26:59 UTC
ctmkit is m-needed, so..I guess no one else would object

# Jeremy Olexa <darkside@gentoo.org> (14 Apr 2009)
# Masked for removal in 60 days. Causes issues with other packages. Old port
# that is not very useful and lacks a maintainer. bug 249080
dev-util/ctmkit
