Description Elias C. Diab 2008-11-19 14:27:26 UTC
I updated to portage-2.2 (i think that's NOT the problem) and then i did an emerge -uDNvt world and failed to emerge app-office/openoffice-3.0.0. Every time i emerge -avt app-office/openoffice i get the same error.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
emerge -avt app-office/openoffice every time gives that error.
Actual Results:

1) Please run perl-cleaner, then re-emerge openoffice.
2) If that doesn't help, post your `emerge --info' and reopen this bug report.
Comment 2 Elias C. Diab 2008-11-20 19:18:55 UTC
i did 'perl-cleaner all' and re-emerged openoffice

@Elias: Did you try that? Cause all that works fine here on multiple installations
Comment 5 Clemente Aguiar 2009-02-21 20:49:54 UTC
It is happening exactly the same thing here.

Have tried this to no avail:
# perl-cleaner reallyall
# emerge --oneshot virtual/perl-IO-Zlib
# emerge --oneshot virtual/perl-Compress-Raw-Zlib
# emerge --oneshot perl-core/Compress-Raw-Zlib

Here is the error:

Please check this:
`grep Zlib.pm /var/db/pkg/perl-core/Compress-{Raw-,}Zlib*/CONTENTS`

As it uses /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Compress/Zlib.pm,
I guess you didn't reinstall perl-core/Compress-Zlib .

If perl-cleaner (which version do you use?) doesn't reinstall this module,
i looks like a bug in perl-cleaner.

Thanks

Used perl-cleaner version 1.05

After I reinstalled perl-core/Compress-Zlib and perl-core/Compress-Raw-Zlib the openoffice instalation proceed as normal.

So I guess the problem could be with perl-cleaner.

For your information this morning I did find a bug related with the perl "problem" (because I did add the USE="ithreads" flag):
see http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=222767
Comment 8 Guilhaume Bordiau 2009-04-23 18:21:09 UTC
I confirm the exact same problem here. (amd64)
I had to reinstall perl-core/Compress-Zlib and perl-core/Compress-Raw-Zlib manually.

# perl-cleaner reallyall does nothing. (v1.05)

So it's a perl-cleaner bug and not openoffice. Someone should change this bug assignment from openoffice@gentoo.org to perl@gentoo.org
Comment 9 Rafał Mużyło 2009-05-15 23:12:57 UTC
Perhaps not.
I've run into similar problem after I reinstalled
perl 5.10.0. For me, it was urxvt complaining about
that weaken stuff. I didn't really know what to do,
but once I reemerged libperl, things got fixed.

Not 100% sure that was it (but about 85%) and don't really
know why this could work.
Comment 10 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-25 12:36:23 UTC
This really isn't a OOo problem, if you still get such behaviour, please assign it to the perl-herd
