As of Pidgin 2.5.0, Perl >=5.10 is a requirement for Perl support. The ebuilds in portage all require >=dev-lang/perl-5.8.2-r1, which is wrong and will cause users to bang their heads against the wall trying to find out why their Perl support is not working. Unfortunately, Perl 5.10 is not in portage yet, but however, 5.8 does not do anything but crash the perl interpreter when used inside Pidgin. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
That would require us to have perl 5.10 .. but I'm pretty sure it works with 5.8.2
Dominik, I failed to find any requirement for perl-5.10 and I've checked. perl plugins work here. So I'll mark this bug as invalid until you'll privide some additional information. Thanks.
