keditfiletype is used by Dolphin to set file associations, but it is not included in the Dolphin package. Emerging konqueror provided this binary on my system. Shouldn't it be possible to run a KDE4 system without requiring Konqueror? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install KDE 4.1.2 from Official Tree using kde-base/kdebase-startkde-4.1.2-r1 2. Emerge kde-base/dolphin-4.1.2 3. Open Dolphin 4. Right click on a file and select "Properties" 5. Click the wrench icon ("Edit File Type") Actual Results: Error: Could not find the program 'keditfiletype' Expected Results: For the file associations page to appear. Keditfiletype should potentially be included in its own package and included as a dependency of Dolphin. After getting this error, performing an emerge of kde-base/konqueror-4.1.2 provided the binary keditfiletype and Dolphin no longer gave an error. Similarly, the File Associations option in System Settings > Advanced did not appear until after Konqueror was emerged (among other options like "About Me" and "Sharing") Machine is running mostly stable amd64 with the exception of KDE4 and required dependencies (portage 2.2, QT4.4 etc).
Created attachment 171246 [details] emerge --info
Also confirmed, dolphin 4.1.3, konqueror 4.1.3
Also confirmed on dolphin 4.2.1-r1 It is redundant to install Konqueror to have full funcionality of dolphin.
