Rarsoft provides a 64-bit version of rar. http://www.rarsoft.com/rar/rarlinux-x64-3.8.0.tar.gz The 32-bit version 3.7.1 I currently use and is in portage had problems verifying a very large archive. I contacted the rar developers and they informed me of a new version 3.8.0 and that it also exists in 64-bit and try that one instead. Thank you.
Created attachment 170440 [details] rar-3.8.0.ebuild This is an ebuild that worked for my system.
Created attachment 170459 [details, diff] rar-3.7.1-to-3.8.0.ebuild.diff How about these changes to the already existing app-arch/rar package? I installed the x86_64 version of rar with this patch applied to the ebuild just fine though I dropped all the extra amd64 dependencies and don't know if they really all may be dropped now.
Bumped in CVS. Thanks for your contributions. This also fixed bug 172430 for me (at least for Turkish characters.)
