It would appear that IBM no longer makes their JDK 1.4.0 available. The dev-java/ibm-jdk-1.4.0-r1 ebuild requests that a user "Please download IBMJava2-SDK-14.tgz from https://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/lxdk/lxdk-p". However, this URL allows JDK 1.3.1 SR% or 1.4.1 to be downloaded. Hence this ebuild should probably be deprecated (for those who already managed to grab the download) and/or removed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge dev-java/ibm-jdk Actual Results: emerge dev-java/ibm-jdk Calculating dependencies ...done! >>> emerge (1 of 1) dev-java/ibm-jdk-1.4.0-r1 to / >>> Unpacking source... !!! ERROR: dev-java/ibm-jdk-1.4.0-r1 failed. !!! Function src_unpack, Line 27, Exitcode 0 !!! Please download IBMJava2-SDK-14.tgz from https://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/lxdk/lxdk-p
I just noticed that this problem would be less visible if the 1.4.1 ebuild was marked as available. This would mask the fact that the 1.4.0 ebuilds are broken for most users. - Andrew
I just want to go on record yet again and say that I'm really annoyed that we cannot mirror the upstream binaries. Perhaps we should adopt a policy, at least within the Java group, to never mark ebuild where we can't mirror the files as stable?
Fixed on portage tree, marked as testing.
