Description Tapan 2008-10-23 14:24:52 UTC
(excuse my english) Compile acx driver fails with kernel gentoo-sources-2.6.27. With previous kernel (<2.6.27) work driver good. With 2.6.27 cannot driver create kernel module and wifi not work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge =gentoo-sources-2.6.27
2. compile kernel, copy image to boot partition, boot this kernel
3. emerge acx

Actual Results:

With kernel gentoo-sources-2.6.27-r2 similar problem, similar print-out.
Comment 4 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-12-02 20:34:07 UTC
To fix this you need to pass the info parameter that comes into the get_scan handler to iwe_stream_add_point and co, and adjst references to IW_EV_LCP_LEN to use iwe_stream_lcp_len(info)

Upstream commit that included this API change and ported drivers (good for examples):

Reminder to maintainers: 2.6.27 is planned to go stable on December 15th, it would be great if you could work on this before then

I have got the same problem, how can we fix that ? Should we patch the kernel ?

Ok, I confirmed that this patch against the ACX source works for me on AMD64 with gentoo kernel 2.6.27. You do not need to patch the kernel, just the acx sources.

Where/what exactly is this patch and how do I apply it?

Currently it is also required to patch the SHIRQ stuff; and I wasn't able to get the USB part working anymore... git version if this thing is hopeless too.
Comment 11 Fabio Erculiani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-12-14 17:42:06 UTC
Thanks for reporting, a new version of net-wireless/acx is available in Portage with fixes for kernels up to 2.6.32 (included), please test it and open new bugs if your issues persist.
Comment 12 Janez Zemva 2010-07-17 17:41:44 UTC
The bug reappers for gentoo-sources 2.6.34. The module fails to compile.
