Thanks.

Of course, it's 77Mbit.
Comment 6 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-07-29 15:22:41 UTC
I've added 81.113.174.102 to the access list for rsync1.us.gentoo.org.
Please update your rsync cron jobs to point to rsync1.us.gentoo.org
and post back here when you've done so. We'll monitor the server
for a couple days to make sure things are working fine.

Thanks.
Comment 7 Stefano 2003-07-30 11:29:11 UTC
Ok, it's operative ;)
Comment 8 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-07-31 09:56:06 UTC
I've noticed a couple of missing syncs. Can you see if there might be
any problems?

Times are in date -uR format. First column is when I checked, the second
column is the timestamp of the server's last sync.

Checked (UTC) Timestamp
================================================
     22:20:26 Wed, 30 Jul 2003 22:19:00 +0000 (~19 minutes late is very odd)
     22:50:28 Wed, 30 Jul 2003 22:49:00 +0000 (same here)
     12:20:59 Thu, 31 Jul 2003 11:32:01 +0000 (expected 12:00) missed this one
Comment 9 Stefano 2003-08-02 02:56:30 UTC
check'it now
Comment 10 Stefano 2003-08-07 03:22:02 UTC
Checked ?
Comment 11 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-08-07 05:04:15 UTC
There were some sporadic misses. I had some connection issues and some
scheduling conflicts, so I started over. I've been monitoring since
yesterday again. There are a couple of misses so far though. Are you
noticing any errors on your end?

Left column is the time I checked and the right column is the timestamp
file on the server.

This is my crontab:

*/30 * * * *      /opt/gentoo-rsync/rsync-gentoo-portage.sh

And this is the date :

bid-one root # ntpdate -p 4 time.ien.it
7 Aug 17:11:08 ntpdate[28142]: step time server 193.204.114.233 offset -10.244125 sec

now, at this point i've crontabbed ntpdate:

0 */2 * * * /bin/time_date

bid-one root # cat /bin/time_date
ntpdate -p 4 time.ien.it
hwclock --systohc

ntpdate -p 4 193.204.114.233
hwclock --systohc

Can U recheck? and.. have any suggestions ?

There are still some syncs that are missing. Until recently, it seemed
sporadic.

     11:50:04 Mon, 11 Aug 2003 10:31:04 +0000

Recently though, there seems to be a larger problem. Monday's 12:00 happened,
but stopped there. The 14:00 occurred, but since then, there have been no
new syncs. I'm not too familiar with troubleshooting rsync problems, so I'll
see if one of our other mirror admins can offer some suggestions.

... I'm here.. any news? cucu?
Comment 16 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-09-09 16:30:30 UTC
I've learned that rsync1.us is reaching its limits and isn't always able to
respond to rsync demand. We're working on resolving the problem, but it will
take some time.

I'm going to monitor this server for a while again to see if its doing any
better. If not, we'll have to put this one on hold until we can resolve the
problem.

Will get back to you within a day or two.
Comment 17 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-09-10 16:15:41 UTC
The first 8 hours looked good, but after that, there were a bunch of missed
syncs. I'm going to temporarily remove access from rsync1.us until we can
fix it, which may be several weeks. Once we make progress with that, I'll
reenable access to rsync1.us and post back here that we're ready to test
again.

Thanks for you patience.
Comment 18 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-10-17 13:10:34 UTC
We've resolved some load problems that rsync1.us was having. I've added

the server back on the access list (should be able to sync again in about

30 minutes). Once you start syncing again, let me know and I'll start
monitoring.

Thanks.
Comment 19 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-10-28 20:39:59 UTC
Removed access to rsync1.us

Are you still interested in offering this portage mirror?
Comment 20 Peter Penkala gentoo-dev 2003-11-05 16:07:20 UTC
Closing.

If this mirror becomes available again, just reopen the bug.

Thanks for offering to support Gentoo.
