dev-haskell-wxhaskell-0.10.3 has been out since 23 March 2008. The biggest features is that it works with ghc-6.8. Is there anyone working on this?
i am interested on this... :)
haskell team, what's the status of wxhaskell? the ebuild hasn't been touched since 2007 and the last bump was 2005. is anyone willing to maintain it? i could try bumping it myself but i'd basically be poking around in the dark.
Since the previous versions wxhaskell now builds with cabal+make instead of just make. The makefiles are newritten to fit as a backend under a very thin layer of cabal. We've started writing ebuilds for the first of the three wxHaskell consists of now (wx, wxcore, wxdirect), namely wxcore, and the work is available from the overlay. To get anything to work at all we've had to apply a series of patches to the build system, so it's not trivial to get things working. The work is still incomplete, help appreciated.
ugh, sounds fun. okay, i just wanted to know if it needed treecleaning or not.
I just heard from a user who was thankful that we even had any version.... so I think we should keep it. On a longer term we would of course like to make the ebuilds work with the more recent versions too...
I'm planning on removing wxGTK-2.6 in the near future. I'm afraid wxhaskell as it exists in the tree will have to go too. Is the work in the overlay anywhere near ready?
I've pushed wxhaskell-0.11.1.2 to portage (including wxcore-0.12.1.6 and wxdirect-0.12.1.3). These newer versions should work well together with the haskell build system (cabal) and also depends on wxGTK-2.8 (instead of 2.6 like the older ebuild). Unfortunately I have been unable to add all keywords at this time, so we only provide ~amd64 and ~x86 for now. wxhaskell 0.9.4 still provedes ~ppc and ~sparc, but can be removed when wxGTK 2.6 has to be removed. I'm closing this bug. If you have trouble building, please open a new bug.
Great! Thanks for your work.
