Description Alan 2008-10-08 15:04:27 UTC
After running hibernate-ram from hibernate-scripts-1.97-r4 ebuild, the system enters the s3 power state and the power light flashes. When pressing the power button to resume the system the hard disk light flashes briefly and the cdrom drive spins up then the system hardlocks. The caps lock, num lock etc are unresponsive and ctrl alt and del does nothing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run hibernate-ram or echo mem > /sys/power/state
2. Press the power button to bring the laptop out of the s3 power state
3.

Actual Results:
Hard disk light flashes and cdrom drive spins up then the system hardlocks. Caps lock, scroll lock and num lock unresponsive. Ctrl alt del does nothing.

Expected Results:
System should resume

I am using the masked tuxonice-source-2.6.26 although I also get the same results using the stable kernel 2.6.24-r9.

I fail to see how "hardlock" differs in meaning from "lock" so I took the liberty to adapt the Summary.

I get the exact same behavior, but on vanilla-sources-2.6.28_rc6. It worked wonderfully on 2.6.27. I'll also note that I'm using nvidia-drivers-180.06 on the rc kernel because that's the only way to get it to work.
I know I shouldn't be surprised I get problems, just thought I should report :)

does this problem still exist in more recent kernels and hibernate-script-2.0-r1 ?
