Description Evan Teran 2008-10-07 20:24:38 UTC
The new kdelibs-4.1.2-r1 ebuild no longer sets the KDEDIRS environment variable. Unfortunately, if you have kdelibs-3.5.x installed, some applications seem to break.

For example, running kinfocenter and konqueror (the kde 4.1.2 versions) yields these errors:

!!!!!!! ERROR !!!!!!! - KHTML default stylesheet version mismatch. Aborting. Check your installation. File used was: /usr/kde/3.5/share/apps/khtml/css/html4.css. Expected STYLE_VERSION 1

KCrash: Application 'kinfocenter' crashing...
sock_file=/home/user/.kde4.1/socket-theta/kdeinit4__0
<unknown program name>(7400)/: Communication problem with "kinfocenter" , it probably crashed.
Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply" : " "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" "

Note, I also installed using the kdeprefix use flag if that is relevant.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Install kdelibs-4.1.2-r1 and kdelibs-3.5.9-r4 at the same time
log into a KDE4 session
run kinfocenter or konqueror
Actual Results:
A style sheet issue causes a crash

Expected Results:
It should run correctly

running "KDEDIRS=/usr/kde/4.1/ kinfocenter" works correctly.

Could you upgrade to kdelibs-3.5.10-r1 and let me know if this is resolved. We are phasing out KDEDIRS as it will ultimately let KDE function much more smoothly.
Comment 2 Evan Teran 2008-10-08 15:27:19 UTC
That fixed it, I'll change the resolution to fixed.
