I recently tried to run comix, the comic-book viewer, and got the following error: ** ** ERROR:(dbus-gproxy.c:659):unassociate_proxies: assertion failed: (priv->associated) Aborted This was even after recompiling the program. I noted the following during my recompile (using portage-2.2_rc11): * Updating scrollkeeper database ... <<< !needed sym /usr/lib64/libpoppler.so.2 <<< !needed obj /usr/lib64/libpoppler.so.2.0.0 >>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache... >>> Original instance of package unmerged safely. This struck me as interesting, because when I upgraded poppler and poppler-bindings, Portage flagged some packages which would need to be rebuilt, and mentioned that two additional executables relied on the changed libraries but could not be associated with known ebuilds. Whatever they were, revdep-rebuild couldn't find them either. Anyway, this might be entirely unrelated to poppler, but I would be remiss in not mentioning the possibility.
Please post your `emerge --info' too.

I don't think that the problem is comix, I _suspect_ that it is your system - but I could be wrong. Please reopen this bug, if it is still a problem after you run emerge @preserved-rebuild (and revdep-rebuild, which won't detect anything broken, as long as @preserved-rebuild is not empty).
I did all the relevant re-emerging before submitting the bug, but perhaps more relevantly, dbus-1.2.x stabilized since I opened this bug, and now comix works. I won't mark the bug as CLOSED yet, but if someone else were to do so, it's probably accurate.
Actually, ignore my previous comment: Whatever was making it work has stopped. I just reemerged dbus and comix, ran revdep-rebuild, and rebooted my system, and comix now gives the same error as before. Additionally, an unrelated program (net-p2p/deluge) is giving an identical error, though only when I try to enter its preferences panel; this lends credence to the idea that it's a problem with my system, not comix. Any additional ideas, beyond "emerge dbus again"? (Oh, and @preserved-rebuild is empty, so no luck there.)
reassigning to dbus maintainers, as this is not a comix problem.
I stopped having this problem a while back, after I reinstalled my system to accommodate a then-unstable gcc:4.3 setup. Should I close the bug, since we can no longer confirm what was causing it?
Closing as per comment #7. Thanks for the follow up, we greatly appreciate it :)
