This patch is needed for x11-driver/xf86-video-i810 on new hardware (g45 and 965gm).

Applying this patch on version 2.4.2-r1 works for me (see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17806 ). My X now doesn't lock up on startup.

This patch might also solve the bug #237971

As for bug #237971, I don't know, it seems unrelated. We'll see.
