Description Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-06-30 23:34:23 UTC
After doing an rsync this morning (CET) my portage tree seems totally borked. I get:

wrote 405 bytes read 1123264 bytes 44065.45 bytes/sec
total size is 39855815 speedup is 35.47

and a few more hundred lines like that. If I try to emerge anything, I get:

Calculating dependencies !!! eclass 'http://www.gentoo.org' in
'http://www.gentoo.org' does not exist:

!!! all ebuilds that could satisfy "portage" have been masked.

!!! Error calculating dependencies. Please correct.

Another emerge sync does NOT correct the problem. I also seem to not be alone
with this problem, someone else also posted the same problem in a forum thread:

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=393287#393287

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge sync
2. wait and watch
3.

Comment 2 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-07-01 00:04:52 UTC
this does NOT solve the problem, after the next rsync it comes back again
Comment 3 Lesley van Zijl 2003-07-01 00:23:12 UTC
I Have the same problem
I can backup (or just delete) /usr/portage and do a normal rsync and emerge whatever I want

Comment 7 Robin Johnson archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2003-07-01 03:42:33 UTC
It should be fixed now.
A revamp of the metadata building scripts is being done so it doesn't happen again.
