Description Robert Führicht 2003-06-30 09:45:49 UTC
When trying to call nvtv 0.4.5 it produces this:

fuero@bmfh fuero $ sudo nvtv -Ng
Null chip: create
Null chip: create
Null chip: Init
Null chip: Connect
Null chip: SetState

Probing for devices tells me this:
fuero@bmfh fuero $ sudo nvtv -P

  I2C Devices: 2:88 1:6E 1:A0

  Device 2:88 = Unknown chip (2:88)

But nvtv 0.4.4 worked (and works!) perfectly.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge nvtv
2. Start nvtv and look at the console output

Actual Results:
See above, nvtv doesn't show me any data

Expected Results:
Show my which resolutions i can pick, what chip there is on my graphics card etc.

*Workaround*
emerge -C nvtv
emerge /usr/portage/media-tv/nvtv/nvtv-0.4.4.ebuild

Bug is apparantly in nvtv, 0.4.5 should be IMO taken out of portage until fixed...

Got the same card and nvtv 0.4.5 works for me. Did you reboot? Because you have to with nvtv (nvtvd doesn't like to be restarted after upgrading...)
Comment 2 Robert Führicht 2003-07-01 12:48:48 UTC
ok, i did rc-config add nvtv boot and rebooted, but the error persists.

Here you go:
$ ps -A | grep -i nvtv && sudo nvtv -P

Hi, did this work with previous versions of nvtv on your machine? Are all the other features of your card currently working or are you experiencing other problems too?

To be absolutely honest the only thing I can think of right now assuming all else is ok and at least the first thing to check. Is your AGP card properly inserted into the slot? (maybe the pull from a cable nudged it, I've seen it happen.)

If not please provide a little more information: 'emerge info', 'cat /proc/driver/nvidia/{agp/status,cards/0}'

Bart.
Comment 4 Oliver Pajonk 2003-09-10 07:38:52 UTC
Same here with a GeForce 3 Ti 200 with Philips SAA7102. NVTV 0.4.4 works perfectly for me while 0.4.5 does not recognize the chip. I also suggest to remove 0.4.5 from portage until this is fixed in NVTV.
Comment 5 Torbjorn Grindhaug 2003-11-01 11:35:33 UTC
I'm having the same problem with my MSI GF-Ti200. Philips SAA7108 Chip. 0.4.4
works fine, 0.4.5 fails to detect the chip.
Comment 6 Torbjorn Grindhaug 2003-11-01 11:54:41 UTC
The cvs-version (0.4.6) worked with my Ti200-Card. Had to make small adjustments
to the Makefile to get it to compile though.
Comment 7 Robert Führicht 2003-11-02 10:43:36 UTC
Thanks, will try 0.4.6. Could you do me a favour and post an ebuild if you
created one already, Torbjorn? Otherwise I'll try and create one... Thanks!
Comment 8 Heinrich Wendel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-09 07:08:02 UTC
0.4.6 is now officially released
Comment 9 Bart Lauwers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-26 08:44:41 UTC
I added 0.4.6 under ~arch .... feel free to test it out and submit patches for any problems you find with it. I don't have this hardware anymore so don't be surprised if the ebuild doesn't work at all, I couldn't test it.
Comment 10 Bart Lauwers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-03-26 08:54:35 UTC
Please re-open if problems
