This does not appear to be a GCC 4.3.1 issue. I just tested and this package compiles fine on ~amd64 with 4.3.1 and boost 1.35. Possibly a boost 1.34 issue?
So it is probably boost-1.34+gcc-4.3.1 issue, since I compiled it ok with boost-1.34+gcc-4.1.2. Probably adding dependency in ebuild on boost-1.35 for gcc-4.3 would solve the problem.

Verified. Works ok with gcc-4.3.1 and boost-1.35.
(In reply to comment #5) I guess either boost 1.35 should be stabilized or the mask for the combo should be put in or possibly the config script can be patched. I am CCing the boost maintainer so he can comment. Please feel free to remove yourself if you feel this is incorrect.
All we have to do is to wait bug 245192 to fixed and adjust the dep.
