Description Juergen Rose 2008-08-26 19:31:56 UTC
If I try to emerge PDL-2.4.3-r1 with the new USE flags gsl and

gls and Text::Balanced is mot recognized. I find :

Writing Makefile for PDL::Slatec

Not building GSL modules: GSL version 1.11 found, need at least 1.3

writing dummy Makefile
...
Writing Basic/Core/Config.pm

But Text-Balanced is installed:

Any Hint?

Reproducible: Always

Perhaps I should give the information about the version of Text-Balanced:

root@deer:/root(23)# emerge -pvD Text-Balanced

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Comment 3 Juergen Rose 2008-10-13 16:05:13 UTC
Hi,

nobody has an hint for me? What could the reason that PDL does not detect Text::Balanced.

I have on all my computers two modules Text/Balanced.pm
root@lynx:/usr/src/linux(53)# ll /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Text/Balanced.pm /usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/Text/Balanced.pm
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 67417 Aug 9 20:33 /usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/Text/Balanced.pm
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 67673 Aug 4 13:45 /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Text/Balanced.pm

I think that /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Text/Balanced.pm is from the installation of perl-5.8.8-r5 and usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/Text/Balanced.pm is from the installation of Text-Balanced-2.0.0.

On the most computers I manage 'emerge PDL' has no problem with these Text-Balanced modules, but at one quad core 'emerge PDL' complaines first:

Writing Makefile for PDL
Writing Basic/Core/Config.pm

Comment 4 Juergen Rose 2008-10-15 14:45:36 UTC
Hi,

I found the solution. The reason was a missing version.pm. version.pm was from the first perl installation in /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/x86_64-linux, then I installed perl with ithreads USE flag and it was not moved by 'perl-cleaner all' and 'perl-cleaner reallyall' to /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8.8/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/. After reemerging dev-perl/version I also could emerge PDL.

So, I have some trouble with webkit-gtk, reinstall perl-core/version solved my trouble

So I mark this bug as dup of 222767.

Thanks
