Description Luis Medinas 2008-08-09 11:36:49 UTC
Hi

Rhythmbox on the stable tree is a little bit older and outdated.
The current 0.11.x series are stable enough to hit stable please do it.
Comment 1 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-08-09 11:39:26 UTC
not going to happen until gnome 2.22 hits stable on all arches rhythmbox supports.
Comment 2 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-08-09 16:31:04 UTC
@Gilles: When you take the time to comment on a bug, please assign it away from bug-wranglers as well.

So the only arch that remains is ppc64 since rythmbox 0.11.x supports amd64, ppc , ppc64 , sparc and x86 , all that arch has gnome 2.22 stable except ppc64 .
Am I right?

Another trivial bug to be fixed... come on guys.

that kind of comment will not get you far I fear. I want to at least fix bug #234938 which is about xulrunner 1.9 support. Maybe I'll also poke upstream about a new stable release.
Comment 6 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-02-22 14:42:38 UTC
Hi arches,

Upstream isn't exactly near a release yet but 0.11.6-r1 proved to be quite stable here, please proceed with your magic.

Target keywords are: amd64 ppc64 sparc x86

@ppc, feel free to proceed when you get #259906 done.
Comment 7 Andrey Vihrov 2009-02-22 21:27:50 UTC
The current stable in Portage (0.10.1-r1) indeed is outdated, as it won't pick multimedia key presses. 0.11.6 is confirmed to work fine.
Comment 8 Hans de Graaff gentoo-dev Security 2009-03-02 15:35:11 UTC
0.10.1 also doesn't support current last.fm, so I'm happy to see the stabilization request. 0.11.6-r1 has been very stable for me as well.
Comment 9 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-02 16:49:55 UTC
I've been using it for months, its pretty stable on amd64. That said, the -r1 version depends on the split up gnome python stuff which isn't stable yet.. (and libmtp too).
Comment 10 Andrey Vihrov 2009-03-11 18:49:43 UTC
After Gnome 2.24 went stable on amd64, 0.11.6-r1 no longer pulls in any ~amd64 packages. It seems perfect now to replace the old 0.10 once Gnome 2.24 is stabilized completely.

ppc64 done
Comment 13 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-18 06:37:08 UTC
Marked ppc stable.

Comment 15 M Murphy 2009-04-07 16:38:01 UTC
rhythmbox-0.10.1-r1 no longer builds for me on amd64. I get the following build error:

In file included from rb-shell.c:83:
../lib/rb-proxy-config.h:69: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '*' token

This is the same problem described in bug #263562.

Therefore, I added the following line to /etc/portage/package.keywords :

=media-sound/rhythmbox-0.11.6-r1

building that version of rhythmbox succeeds on amd64. So to summarize, on amd64, rhythmbox-0.10.1-r1 should no longer be marked as stable and rhythmbox-0.11.6-r1 should be stable.

@x86, @sparc, hey guys, gentle ping :)
Comment 17 Gilles Dartiguelongue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-11 09:46:00 UTC
looks like I missed adding amd64 here -_-
Comment 18 Frank Tobin 2009-04-11 09:54:41 UTC
I've been using 0.11.6-r1 fine for two weeks on x86.
Comment 19 Arnaud Launay 2009-04-11 12:37:41 UTC
For what it's worth, I'm using 0.12 for 2 weeks, works perfectly fine on amd64...
Comment 20 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2009-04-15 19:52:45 UTC

The topic is stabilization of rhythmbox not whatever unsupported plugin that needs external dependencies. Please open a new bug report for that if you wish support for it.

sparc, your keywords wrt this package (for all ebuilds) are bitrotting, would it be possible to accept the fact that you don't need this pkg?
Comment 26 Raúl Porcel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-20 15:02:30 UTC
sparc stable, closing
