hal 0.5.11 supports X Input Hotplugging and the ebuild includes a script to convert xorg.conf to a fdi script. As far as I know evdev and >=xorg-server-1.4 is needed for Hotplugging. The ebuild only checks for the X use flag and then does the conversion. Shouldn't it check if x11-drivers/xf86-input-evdev is installed and >=xorg-server-1.4 is built with the hal use flag. Maybe it is even better to ship the conversion script with >=xorg-server-1.4 and only apply it when the hal use flag is enabled and /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10-x11-input.fdi does not exist.
To confirm, this will be done. The conversion script has been removed from HAL as of 0.5.11-r7, and will resurface as a PDEPEND on X.Org; will mark this bug duplicate now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 225091 ***
