Description James Browning 2008-07-23 19:24:12 UTC
I was like testing out my new hardened kernel, and I noticed htop like bombs after crapping something like
::: htop:  ProcessList.c:378 ProcessList_sort: Assertastion 'init->pid == 1' Failed.
::: Aborted
I think this is like real bad, and someone should tell the guy who made this casue it like sucks.
(/brainless)
But anyway I was testing my vmlinuz-2.6.25-hardened-r2-prescott when it occured.
htop 0.7 w/ the debug use flag set. There's also mouse weirdness afterwards (in KDE) but closin the konsole ckears it up.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge htop
2. use my kernel
3. fire up htop as ordinary user
Actual Results:
htop dies quickly and messes up konsole

Expected Results:
htop should start a running display of my processes

see forthcoming .config

My .config file

I suspect the GRKERNSEC_PROC_USER item
Comment 2 Wolfram Schlich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-24 10:05:52 UTC
I've reported the issue to the htop mailing list.
Comment 3 James Browning 2008-09-21 20:08:40 UTC
Slight update, it only seems to occur when using the tree view feature of htop, the flat view seem to run fine.
Comment 4 Wolfram Schlich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-09-22 15:06:38 UTC
No reaction from the htop mailinglist so far.
Comment 5 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-11-26 20:34:10 UTC
Which versions of htop are we talking about here? Is this still a problem with htop-0.8.1?
Comment 6 Bas van Dijk 2009-01-28 12:19:52 UTC
Please reopen this bug because my htop often crashes after a while with the following message:

"htop 0.8.1 aborted. Please report bug at http://htop.sf.net"

Comment 7 James Browning 2009-02-24 18:07:19 UTC
Yeah, htop 0.8.1 kills my bug as far as I can tell. There may be other issues like Bas van Dijks' however they can file their own bugs. We should try to prevent topic creep and the aforementioned bug should probably be forked, clone, copied or whatever into a new bug.
Comment 8 James Browning 2019-08-06 12:02:07 UTC
Works correctly as of 2.2.0
