Not sure what happened, but somewhere along the line this header file got dropped, as it only appears to be installed with gcc 4.2.4 and there didn't appear to be any differences in USE flags: /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.2.4/include/g++-v4/backward/new.h Hylafax fails to configure properly with gcc 4.3.1 so it looks like this header is required for at least one package...
