Description Bertrand Piétu 2008-07-04 07:37:20 UTC
When I emerge lilypond, it stops with this error:

This is MetaPost, Version 0.993 (Web2C 7.5.6) (INIMP)

(/var/tmp/portage/media-sound/lilypond-2.11.50/work/lilypond-2.11.50/mf/mf2pt1.
mp
! I can't find file `mfplain'.
l.27 input mfplain
                  ;
Please type another input file name:

I have to emerge texlive-metapost to resolve the problem.
So the question is: Why texlive-metapost is not a dependency of lilypond (or texlive) if it's necessary?

Reproducible: Always
Comment 1 Marijn Schouten (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-04 13:33:57 UTC
Right, I think because I still have app-text/tetex-3.0_p1-r6 installed which provides /usr/share/texmf/metapost/base/mfplain.mp.

I have exactly the same problem with all versions >=media-sound/lilypond-2.11.50

emerging dev-texlive/texlive-metapost soleves it.
Comment 3 Nils Marving 2008-09-07 18:37:44 UTC
Adding dev-texlive/texlive-metapost to dependencies solved it for me too...
Comment 4 Jyrki Launonen 2008-09-11 19:42:46 UTC
"Or" in RDEPEND would be nice.
 || ( dev-texlive/texlive-metapost
      app-text/tetex )
or something. It seems that there has been a dep for virtual/tetex which has been commented out (virtual/ doesn't have tetex anymore) but replacement-dep hasn't been added.
This bug applies for lilypond-2.11.56 (and lilypond-2.11.52, perhaps for lilypond-2.11.51) too.
Comment 5 James L. Hammons 2008-10-09 21:37:27 UTC
Also for lilypond 2.11.58. This is from a fresh install so there were no old teTex packages laying around either. :-)

What about lilypond-2.12.1? Can't use tetex and lilypond?

 Migrate to TeXLive.
