Description Billy DeVincentis 2008-06-16 11:29:04 UTC
Although some of those postgresql packages are still masked, they will not be upgradable because of dependencies by kexi to the older postgresql packages.

Reproducible: Always

The <dev-libs/libpqxx-2.6.9 is left over from an older Kexi version I think. Adjusted the dependency.

Carsten, You might have adjusted the dependencies of libpqxx but you didn't change them for libpq, see below after today's sync. Still not able to upgrade.

Windows2 billydv # equery d libpqxx

app-office/kexi-1.6.3 (postgres? =dev-libs/libpqxx-2.6*)

postgresql packages aren't masked any more so i don't think any more adjustments in the deps of kexi are needed. Please change resolution as FIXED, or give more information on how to reproduce

This hasn't anything to do with masking, but with not breaking the stable tree. When trying to get a newer library version stable, all latest stable ebuild:slot combinations depending on it have to work with it.

Regarding KDE this means, that the monolithic koffice ebuild needs to be masked the latest media-gfx/showimg ebuild revision has to stable and the branch snapshot of the split koffice ebuilds - together with libpqxx-2.6.9.

Given the history of breakages and lax dependency specifications in ebuilds etc. pp., there's a good chance, we break stable tree. Please trying to do such a mess. Check what you do beforehand.
