Rebuilding gamin 0.1.9-r1 (as part of system rebuild) after updating glibc from
2.7-r2 to 2.8_p20080602, I get the following error:

Last week I rebuilt toolchain/system/world after updating gcc to 4.3.0 and
linux-headers to 2.6.25-r3. gamin built with no problems then, so this would seem to be related to the new glibc.
Portage 2.1.5.4 (default-linux/amd64/2007.0/desktop, gcc-4.3.0, glibc-2.8_p20080602-r0, 2.6.25-gentoo-r4 x86_64)

Comment 1 Jose daLuz 2008-06-08 20:29:05 UTC
Left out the relevant part of the build output:

libtool: compile: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.. -I.. -I../lib -DBINDIR=\"/usr/libexec\" -DBUILDDIR=\"..\" -Wall -Wchar-subscripts -Wmissing-declarations -Wmissing-prototypes -Wnested-externs -Wsign-compare -Wno-sign-compare -march=k8 -O2 -pipe -ggdb -msse3 -MT gam_api.lo -MD -MP -MF .deps/gam_api.Tpo -c gam_api.c -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/gam_api.o

Also, there is an upstream bug on this error: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=534942 However, there is no patch on this bug.
Comment 2 Rafał Mużyło 2008-06-10 00:31:35 UTC
After looking at bug 225375, I think there's a good chance that
'append-flags -D_GNU_SOURCE' in the ebuild should fix it.
Comment 3 Nikolay S. Rybaloff 2008-06-10 10:35:06 UTC
That worked for me
Comment 4 Ferenc Erki 2008-06-10 20:50:43 UTC
Adding:

inherit flag-o-matic

and then for the src_compile() part:

append-flags -D_GNU_SOURCE

to the ebuild works for me too.

I don'know if it's the right way to fix it tough.

Fix committed to portage CVS. Thanks for reporting!
