Description Dror Levin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-02 18:35:26 UTC
dev-embedded/sdcc has the useflag 'boehmgc' while media-gfx/asymptote has 'boehm-gc'. These should probably be unified. Also, use.local.desc mentions 'boehmgc' as a useflag for dev-db/monetdb which does not exist.

$ euses boehm
dev-db/monetdb:boehmgc - enables Boehm Garbage Collector for XQuery
dev-embedded/sdcc:boehmgc - Enable Hans Boehm's garbage collector
media-gfx/asymptote:boehm-gc - Enables using the Boehm-Demers-Weiser conservative garbage collector

The first package (dev-db/monetdb) appears to have been removed two weeks ago. As for the others, not only the spelling but also the meaning seems different.

CC'ing maintainers... asymptote is without a maintainer (not CC'ing maintainer-needed@gentoo.org) dev-embedded@gentoo.org for dev-embedded/sdcc.

The "Boehm-Demers-Weiser garbage collector" is also known as the "Boehm garbage collector", so no different meaning.

CCing sci and grozin for asymptote.

I'll be happy to change sdcc if needed, we just have to decide which one we want.

Denis.

I think one is as good as the other. ;-) However, asymptote's use is older:

Add local use flags boehm-gc and gsl for media-gfx/asymptote, see Bug 167405.

OK, I fixed sdcc. Closing this.

Denis.
