Other distributions appear to provide libruby.so.  I think it would be nice if
Gentoo would also.  That would yield a substantial decrease in the size of the
Vim binary.

I think the only required change is to add --enable-shared to the configure
line.  Do you mind doing that, Tom?  Any history here of which I'm not aware?

there was a typo in the ebuild file
it should be "--enable-shared" and not "--enabled-shared"

I just comitted the fixed version
