Please recompile this w/ MAKEOPTS="-j1" and attach the log; there are no useful errors visible anywhere.

Command 'MAKEOPTS="-j1" emerge octave-forge -v' makes no change, the same error is produced.

diff /var/log/portage/sci-mathematics\:octave-forge-2006.03.17\:20080216-110427.log /var/log/portage/sci-mathematics\:octave-forge-2006.03.17\:20080216-125410.log

But I see the errors in the original log:

If you need octave-forge I'd highly recommend that you check
out the new octave-3.0.0 as well as the split octave-forge
ebuilds which are currently in the science overlay. Both
should hit portage in the very near future.

Markus

How near? It's been eight months.
Comment 7 Markus Dittrich (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-17 12:44:25 UTC
octave-3.* is in portage and the octave-forge ebuilds
in the overlay are fully functional so please give them
a spin.

Since I wrote the last message and after some discussion
among the sci-devs it was decided to eventually replace the
large number of split octave-forge ebuilds by a g-cpan like
wrapper. Until this g-octave-forge has been written, the
split octave forge ebuilds will remain in the overlay.
I currently have no estimate when I fill find time to write
this wrapper. If somebody would like to volunteer to give this
a first shot that would be great.

Best,
Markus

I can't compile octave on a 64 bit machine.
With octave-3.0.2 I get the following error message:
dqk15i.f:210: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://bugs.gentoo.org/> for instructions.
make[3]: *** [pic/dqk15i.o] Error 1
make[3]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

Please file a separate bug report and don't forget to include your
emerge --info as well as the FFLAGS you are using.

Thanks,
Markus
