Description K.O. Wilander 2008-01-27 20:02:59 UTC
Building the stable linuxwacom-0.7.4_p3, there's a message saying
*** WARNING:
*** is not supported by this pachage
*** Kernel modules will not be built
Digging through the configure script, I find that on line 19782, which reads
     moduts=`grep UTS_RELEASE $WCM_KERNELDIR/include/linux/version.h`
the file (/usr/src/linux/)include/linux/version.h is searched for the UTS_RELEASE macro. However, in my kernel sources (sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r3) the UTS_RELEASE macro is defined in (/usr/src/linux/)include/linux/utsrelease.h -- hence nothing is found, and the configure process gives up on the kernel module.

If this is a recent change in the kernel code, any patch probably needs to handle both locations.

This probably needs to go upstream, but I don't know whether it belongs in autoconf or in linuxwacom -- sorry. (While at it, perhaps fix the typo in the message too?)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have 2.6.23 kernel sources installed
2. emerge linuxwacom
3.

Actual Results:
Warning message, no kernel module built
Warning message terse to the point of unintelligibility... (refers to the moduts variable, which is empty at this point).
As a consequence, my wacom pad doesn't work.

Expected Results:
No warning, module built.

Including emerge --info output, for what it's worth.

The 'stable' ebuild is unfixable, sorry.

Please compile the in-kernel drivers, stabilization of a newer version is in bug 208181.
