A patch is available at
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1873192&group_id=143140&atid=759875

Despite the naming of the patch, it does NOT fix compilation errors with gcc 4.3. A separate patch is available for this issue at:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1874137&group_id=143140&atid=759875

For convenience I'll attach those patches and an ebuild diff here.

Thanks, done.

@games team: Hope you don't mind, 7 months is long enough.

Why did the amd64 patch add assert.h?

Not sure, but it was accepted upstream based on that fact that the bug reports are 'closed' - didn't verify beyond that.
