Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2007-12-16 18:49:05 UTC
At least, this occurs with gentoo-sources. I have "sys-kernel/gentoo-sources" in my /etc/portage/package.keywords but only latest slot is updated with emerge -avuDN world. This is my "eix -I gentoo-sources" output for clearly seeing this behavior:
[U] sys-kernel/gentoo-sources
     Available versions:
        (2.6.16-r13) 2.6.16-r13

Description: Full sources including the Gentoo patchset for the 2.6 kernel tree

As can be seen, latest 2.6.22 kernel is not updated, only 2.6.23

$ emerge -pvuDN gentoo-sources

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild U ] sys-devel/gettext-0.17 [0.16.1-r1] USE="nls -doc -emacs -nocxx" 11,369 kB
[ebuild NS ] sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r4 USE="-build -symlink" 225 kB

Total: 2 packages (1 upgrade, 1 in new slot), Size of downloads: 11,593 kB

I was running emerge --sync and seems that gentoo-sources-2.6.23 will be updated, but 2.6.22 keeps untouched

Comment 2 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-12-16 18:52:24 UTC
Every single sys-kernel/gentoo-sources version has it's own slot. What exactly do you expect here?
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-12-16 18:55:28 UTC
And to be clear here, version == ${PF} here; see man ebuild(5)
Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2007-12-16 19:08:09 UTC
I expect that "emerge -avuDN world" updates both gentoo-sources installed versions from both slots: sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.23-r4 and sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.22-r10

Currently, emerge -avuDN world only wants to upgrade to 2.6.23-r4 leaving old 2.6.22-r9

There's not any "both slots" 2.6.23-r4 is the SLOT (every single kernel revision has its own slot, already told you once).

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood and I tought that there were only a 2.6.22 and 2.6.22 slots from gentoo-sources. Silly me!, Sorry :'(
