 *
 * It is important to note that OpenOffice.org is a very fragile
 * build when it comes to CFLAGS. A number of flags have already
 * been filtered out. If you experience difficulty merging this
 * package and use agressive CFLAGS, lower the CFLAGS and try to

Comment 1 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-12-09 01:14:10 UTC
Is this reproducible at the same spot every time? The error message seems to indicate otherwise. If it is, then please attach the preprocessed output.
Comment 2 Ken Long 2007-12-09 01:31:07 UTC
Where do I get the preprocessed output?
Comment 3 Mark Loeser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-12-09 01:44:54 UTC
As, I said. From the error message, it doesn't even sound like this is reproducible:

log.cxx:803: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://bugs.gentoo.org/> for instructions.
The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem.

Please try to reproduce it and verify it happens in the same exact spot each time. If it does, then you should be able to find the preprocessed output by doing:

find /var/tmp/portage/app-office/openoffice-2.3.1/work/ -name "*.ii"

If the error were reproducible, it would have told you where to find the preprocessed output as part of the error message.
Comment 4 Ken Long 2007-12-09 02:30:21 UTC
ok, I tried re-building Openoffice again.. and it failed again.
it is reproducible, in that is fails to build..
I think this is the fourth time attempting to build it.

output from
# find /var/tmp/portage/app-office/openoffice-2.3.1/work/ -name "*.ii"

results in nothing.

Yes, it did fail again, but not in the same spot, or with the same error. I'd recommend running memtest and making sure you don't have any memory problems, or other stability issues.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 20600 ***
Comment 6 Ken Long 2007-12-09 02:51:59 UTC
ok, I'll run memtest for a while. thanks.
Comment 7 Ken Long 2007-12-09 13:09:02 UTC
my machine failed MEMTEST.. some areas of ram are bad.. :-(
