Hello, I didn't specified the package version because the problem that I am going to describe happens both on 1.2.0 (stable) and (~)1.2.2. Randomly during use, the device for ipw3945 (eth1) suddenly decide to stop working. When the device loose the connection with the WiFi Access Point, dmesg output is like this: ipw3945: Error sending cmd #08 to daemon: time out after 500ms. ipw3945: Error sending cmd #08 to daemon: time out after 500ms. The only way to restore the previous situation and to get it working again is to do /etc/init.d/ipw3945 restart. Best regards, Flavio Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Leave your PC connected to the Internet through the WiFi card 2. wait for an unspecified time (not so long) 3. see if the card has lost the alignment with your access point
Try the iwlwifi driver, it doesn't require any user space daemons.
As said above...
So, you think ipw3945 stable version is better than iwlwifi that is Hard Masked, isn't it? In this case, can I emerge -C ipw3945 getting rid of it? I understand that I won't need of ipw3945 since here. Thank you.
iwlwifi didn't work for me. I had a lot of trouble, so I decided to come back to my old ipw3945 even though it has this bug.
