emerging cdrtools-2.01.01_alpha34 hard locks box; it stops at "Checking for mlockall..."

The crash occurs on an amd64 box in a 32bit chroot.  The emerge info below is from the chroot.

Also reported here: http://linux.derkeiler.com/Mailing-Lists/Kernel/2007-11/msg08255.html, which alludes to a possible issue with PaX. However, the version of the kernel under due consideration is now obsolete. Jason, please confirm as to whether the bug is still in effect as of the latest stable version of hardened-sources (2.6.25-r8 at the time of writing).
