I have a VMWare ESX server that has a web-based user interface. It installs a Firefox plugin to allow you to see and interact with the console of virtual machines. This plugin does not work correctly when launched with the normal /usr/bin/firefox launching script (I get a blank grey screen instead), but it does work correctly if I launch firefox-bin directly. The plugin resides in the normal mozilla user plugin directory, ~/.mozilla/plugins. I'm not really sure how to go about figuring out why it's unhappy when launched with the normal firefox script. I'm filing this in the Gentoo Bugzilla as the firefox and mozilla-launcher scripts seem to be customized Gentoo-built scripts.
Well, this has nothing to do with any VMware product, so I'm not sure why we got it. Looks like a case of someone not reading the bug before assigning it to us. Anyway, passing this along to the right guys.
Originally the subject didn't have anything with VMWare in it, citing simply a mozilla plugin. :-) Jakub changed the subject when he assigned it to the VMWare team. To be honest, though, I'm not sure where the fault lies...it could end up being the fault of the plugin, but it's hard to say. On a VMWare-related note though, it would be lovely to have the plugin in Portage or the vmware overlay so that it could be installed system-wide :-)
mozilla-launcher has been depreciated and no longer used. Reopen if probelm is problem can be duplicated with current 3.6.8 build.
