FYI: I bumped the version number on the in-portage ebuild of 0.26 to 0.27 and it runs well for me on x86. It does, however, throw a dbus security violation error when run from my user shell, but I think that's because of a local dbus configuration issue (probably because I'm not running GNOME and haven't spent the time to properly configure dbus. It doesn't seem to affect straw's normal operation, as far as I can tell. "strawdbus.py:69:start_services: Error while connecting to NetworkManager: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "(unset)" member "StartServiceByName" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.DBus")"
Is there any reason why version 0.25 is the one stable and 0.26 is not even stabilized? Why is version 0.27, almost a year old (in May) not in Portage?
brutal answer: because no ones care normal answer: because no devs are currently interested in/using this software. Hence it's stalling. If you feel adventurous enough that you'd like to help maintain this software, I can be your proxy maintainer. Otherwise, it was on my list of things to fix the current stable version and then assign to maintainer-wanted and eventually last-rite (aka remove it from the tree)
(In reply to comment #3) > brutal answer: because no ones care > I like this one better. In fact, I renamed the ebuild to 0.27 and I emerged it. The software is terrible. Trying next one on list: liferea (with luck, this one is better)
