When using FEATURES=installsources and not having dev-util/debugedit installed, portage just fails silently to install the sources, instead of warning or dying at any point of time.
Additionally make.conf.example doesn't contain any information about this very useful FEATURES option for getting even awesomer stacktraces than just FEATURES=splitdebug and CFLAGS=-g

This has been released in 2.1.3.
