Description merwan kashouty 2003-04-01 03:55:40 UTC
hey this isnt so mucha true bug but a performance issue i ahve seen with many of the
kernel sources... i see what can be catagorized as 'sticky' behaviour when using many
of the kernel sources from portage... i am running an nforce2 board with xp3000+ cpu
512mbs corsair-xms and really shouldnt see much if any desktop performance issues.
after trying the gs-sources then gaming-sources and ck-sources i went back to ck3
which i patched myself , i used low latency & preempt, aavm, desktop tuning and cache
(i know your not suppose to enable cache with preempt but i do and have before for
months without file corruption) i also added the the nforce2 ide patch from the
gaming-sources patchset. well not to bore you guys but my syste is running muuuuch
better now , like i had remembered it before i lost a scsi drie running raid0. simple
things like the auto hide of the kicker panel just pop up smooth and fast , before with
the above mentioned kernels there was a gitter to everything.
well that all ... i hope this doesnt sound like a rant just thought this observation might
be useful to some one.

ciao

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerging the kernel-sources listed above
2.
3.
