It would be really useful if I could mask portage from using certain packages from overlays.

For example, I use the xeffects overlay for beryl. I do not want all the other bling it tries to apply to my KDE installation. It would be nice to mask the individual packages somehow so that that package uses the version from the portage tree rather than preferring the overlay.
