Description Paul Sands 2007-05-08 19:18:42 UTC
The plugin no longer works it seems because the script to pull all data (except for the radar image) for a location is going to a url that has been deactivated. (http://www.msnbc.com/m/chnk/d/weather_d_src.asp?acid=). I am not sure if this fails under ebuilds or back to the original MythTV folks who developed the plugin. Since it calls the same functions, this also affects www-apps/mythweb

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select any location in the Weather Settings
2. Access Weather plugin from main menu

Actual Results:
Error messages displayed in place of data

Expected Results:
Display correct data for selected location

I found an existing ticket for this at mythtv.org. Ticket # 3327
http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/3327

Would it be possible to have the ebuild include the patch from the ticket?

CCing a MythTV upstream developer

Looks like we need to switch to the new mythweather revamp branch.

Here's some details.

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Using_mythweather-revamp_with_trunk_mythtv

At the bottom of the page it links to a sandbox page with some very nice screenshots of it's features.

Any chance of an ebuild for this ???
Comment 4 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-06-28 18:08:25 UTC
from statements by upstream, its not ready for use or ready to be built against 0.20.

So for now, it looks like no.
Comment 5 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-08-24 00:57:49 UTC
so for 0.20.2 upstream is disabling mythweather and marking it as broken.

<gbee> not in a fit state for a backport, suppose in a couple or weeks, maybe less it might be usable enough that packagers could backport it themselves - not sure Chutt would want it backported it to -fixes though
<gbee> assuming you are talking about mythweather and not some other fix that I was supposed to be backporting
<Cardoe> yes, mythweather
<Chutt> that's too big for a backport

So there you have it, MythWeather will not be fixed or working in 0.20.x, as such it's been masked.
