lt_hotswap is needed for IBM thinkpads (explicitly, at least A21p, X22, X24, T30, T22, T23, T40, and T42) to support hotswapping of the ultrabay in models without SATA support.

Without it, a reboot is required to switch from battery to drive, or from drive to battery (for ACPI sensing).
