1. emerge media-fonts/encodings-1.0.2
2. add FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/encodings/" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf in the Files section
3. restart X
4. grep WW /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Results : (WW) `fonts.dir' not found (or not valid) in "/usr/share/fonts/encodings/".

Reproducible: Always

Uh, so don't add it to FontPath? It's *not* a font...
